Ballymore Tigers |Caligara Bulldogs | Harteford Hawks | Iomagh Steelers
The Northern region of Eboria houses the most ‘smashmouth’ football. No real fancy-dan high-tech passing attacks- just good hard run plays with intelligent passes…And rough, tough DEFENCES! All four teams, including the incoming Caligara Bulldogs (in from the PFL West) have strong run-game pedigree coaches. If ‘Blood, Mud and Guts’ football is your kind of thing, this is the division for you. Ballymore and Harteford are both from Ohara State, so this is the division of the only in-state derby outside of Landoria.
Ballymore got to (but lost Crystal Bowl XLVI to the Adelphia Phoenix) the big game on the strength of a stifling defence and the tremendous play-making of Bo Mills. Mills directed the attack perfectly in the play-offs. Even though they missed the play-offs in 2016-17, it was by a narrow margin. A fully healed up team should be a force to be reckoned with.
The Bulldogs started rookie QB Zack Slater in 2016, who had a tremendous year and will be hoping to avoid the dreaded ‘sophmore slump’. The Bulldogs were very comeptetive in the West and now could well be favourites to win in their new home division. Historically very strong, having won multiple Crystal Bowls in different eras.
The Hawks replaced the Adelphia Rams in 1993, following the Rams’ bankruptcy. This team has only got to one Crystal Bowl (losing to the Giants) but have always been a tough opponent. 2016-17 was a down year, they will be hoping for improvements.
The Steelers were the team of the 80s in the PFL. They have a rich tradition and are always difficult to beat in Steel City. Unfortunately, the most recent times have been difficult and a lack of continuity at both head Coach and Quarterback positions have paralysed this team.
