The San Angelo Miners came from behind to win Crystal Bowl XLV. Scoring 28 points in the second quarter, Brandon Mullen stole the show with a passing clinic, tearing apart the Phoenix pass defence. HB Chauncey Smith also scored two touchdowns, giving them a 31-21 lead at half-time.

The third and fourth quarters were tightly fought- the Phoenix pulling within a touchdown with just over a minute to go. Their onside kick was recovered by the miners Avery Brown and they run down the final minute to take the Crystal Bowl home.
