The 2018 Champions Bowl crowned the Ohara Scarlets as the top team in First Class Football (FCF). This game had everything for the neutral fan, including the heroic ending of the championship drive, ending when sophomore QB Tayvon Coles found Lonnie Charles with 1:19 left.
The first half was filled with great defence, leading to a narrow 14-13 lead for the Maroons. In the third quarter, the defensive walls faltered a little, enabling sophomore RB Stan Preston to bust through for a 72 yard major and also bust one in from one yard out.
The lead jumped back and forth between the two- 17-20, 24-20, 24-27, 31-27 and finally 31-34. Olaskas QB Brad Carson picked up a knock, but only sat out three plays. He was 20/32 for 256 yards, 2 scores and 2 INTs. Ohara’s QB Coles threw for 22/36 for 211 yars 2 scores and on pick. POTG Stan Preston ran for 141 yards off 21 carries, 1 TD and also caught four passes.
