Hallas took advantage of a second-half QB crisis from the Miners after Brandon Mullen left the game early in the third quarter.

Both teams had been dead evens after 30 minutes, with Mullen throwing two TD passes to Larry Tyson and Don Simms. Drew Williams had thrown to Kevin Grandmont and Amani Sanders.

The third quarter began disastrously for the Miners, RB Chauncey Smith went down for  a few plays, followed by Mullen leaving the game with a fractured jaw.  The miners did not get in the red zone for the remainder of the game.  Brandon Gooden scooped up Lamar Wilson’s fumble and went 49 yards for the only other score for the Miners.

On the other side, the Stars took advantage, moving the ball downfield with long drives resulting in another field goal and a Lamar Wilson 9 yard run.

In the fourth quarter, Drew Williams threw one more TD pass to Kevin Grandmont. Williams was 24 of 36 for 427 yards, 3 TDs and one INT.
