Top 5 Free Agency moves: 2017

PFL Free Agency 2017 |Ryan Solis

Before the draft, teams are still addressing needs through free agency. Here are the PFLdotcom’s top five free agency pickups for this spring:

1. Kurt Sierra (QB) New Jorg 96ers

With a lack of high-quality QBs expected in the 2017 draft, this was a great move from the ‘Sixers to get in a veteran QB who can lead this attack. Sierra was dependable in Harteford and although he had troubles staying on the field in 2015 and 2016, he looked to be back to his old self.

2. Mark Markosyan (CMF) St. George Sharks

Markosyan is one of the best ball-hawking midfielders in the league. Surprisingly not picked up earlier, following his release from the Seafax Storm. Improves the Sharks in the middle of defence instantly, also wasn’t too expensive.

3. Mitch McComas (WR) Melborg Giants

The Giants need help at the winger position, with veterans not replaced, the past two years have been hard on QB Chase Hand. Mitch instantly upgrades the Giants flanks. Can play inside or out, has good, safe hands. Should become a favourite of Hand’s down the stretch. Appears to have plenty of gas left in the tank.

4. Cam Rogers (QB) Ballymore Tigers

When the Steelers picked up Kelvin Stewart in the Re-allocation Draft, it sent a message to Cam- you are not our no.1 guy. Rogers has moved, though, not to be a no.1 guy elsewhere. The Tigers found out what happens when Bo Mills is a little out-of-sorts or injured, they missed the play-offs. Cam is more than a back-up, with three years experience, he still has time to be molded further. Also, with Bo now 30, this pick-up feels good for the future!

5. Danny Oliver (OL) Oakland Ravens

Oliver is a great, versatile lineman. It was a shock that his option was not picked up by St. George. Should help strengthen the Ravens forward line and can also be a back-up Center. QB Tom Tomkowski will be fired up to have him blocking in front of him.
