For those who were thinking the NUSA Champions Bowl on January 7th would be a shoo-in for the Olaskas Crimson Glory and Ohara Scarlets, think again!
The NUSA Semi-Finals produced two very intriguing matchups. Olaskas could not deal with the pace up-front of the Shamrocks’ defence. Ohara could not make the big play when they really needed it.
Semi-Final #1
OHARA SCARLETS 24. STAMFORD RAMS 27
Kicker Josh Daniels kicked the game-tying and game-winning field goals in the fourth quarter. QB Dre Nalen’s second half performance earned him the Player of the Game award. No pressure then! Stamford Head Coach ‘Big’ Phil Henderson has a very well organised and perhaps, over-achieving team at the top of their game. Not this year, Scarlets fans.

Semi-Final #2
OLASKAS CRIMSON GLORY 20, O’CONNELL SHAMROCKS 28
O’Connell engineered a complete performance to knock out the number one seed. This team felt aggrieved to be ranked number 5 coming in, they have proved in their two games- that they deserved to be there and to compete on January 4th. DE Vin Marshall stole the show for the ‘Rocks. He had 8 tackles, three sacks, 2 forced fumbles- one of which he scooped up and scored from.
